Making a Gift in your Will
A gift in your will is an excellent way to support causes which are important to you and, as charities are exempt from inheritance tax, it can also be tax-efficient for you.
It is not necessary to make a new will to leave a bequest, just add a codicil to the existing one. Include words along the following lines:
‘I give the (sum of £.../residue of my estate) to the Trustees of the Wiltshire Victoria County History Trust (registered charity No.1102882) absolutely for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the Hon. Treasurer for the time being of the Trust shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor.’
If you would like to discuss a possible bequest, in confidence, do contact us via the ‘contact’ button.
