Planning a return to walks and talks

After scrapping our summer programme of events in line with measures to combat Covid 19, we’re looking at how and when we can safely get back together.

We reluctantly cancelled a walking tour of Swindon in May. Then a drinks reception and talk to be hosted by the High Sheriff of Wiltshire, Ashley Truluck CB CBE at the Chalke Valley History Festival in June was called off along with the festival itself.

In common with many other charitable trusts our income has taken a major hit which will have a direct impact on our ability to commission new research.

Behind the scenes we are planning more walks and talks for the future and looking forward to being able to reschedule the Swindon walk, but it is quite possible that we will have to wait until 2021 before attempting any sort of fund raising event.

Our two researchers, Rosalind Johnson and Louise Ryland-Epton, are able to work from home, using online resources, and we have enough cash reserves at present to carry on paying them.

But the loss of our main summer event will significantly reduce our income this year and we are anxious to try to find other means to make good that loss.
